What would you do if you saw to girls jumping one girl at Walmart?

Would you stare or try to help? I got jumped by two ghetto black girls was with my boyfriend. One thought i tapped her with my grocery cart. Everybody around heard the loudness with the yelling workers and customers. But everyone just looked. She kept yelling at me getting in my face. I told her i didn't tap her then she grabs me by my hair pulls me down and tries punching me. I look around from what little i could but everybody was just looking. My boyfriend had to grab the other butch looking girl because she was kicking me while the other was on top of me punching. Nobody intervened, it seemed like forever. Finally my boyfriend broke up fight cops came but didn't come for me they came because the manager called them for a shoplifter. So it's like i didn't even matter. Mind you i'm hispanic and the manager is african american. I really felt humiliated defensless. I got a lawyer but nothing could be done. Why are people so cruel?
