No offence but is it true or false that the govts. in a lot of countries have legalised gay marriages because?

In Canada the Supreme Court told the Government that denying anyone the right to marry was illegal discrimination under the Charter of Rights. So the law was changed, and we now have just plain "marriage". Not "gay marriage", but equal rights.
