My Sisters iPod is having problems?

So my sisters iPod was working properly, and then she fell asleep and it died. So, she went to turn it back on after it was plugged in, and instead of turning back on properly, it totally skips the battery with the red sliver, and the white lightning bolt under it, goes strait to the apple screen with the little loading sign under it, goes to her Passcode for about 4 seconds, then turns black, then repeats itself. Anybody else have this problem who knows how to fix it.
